Grantsville Leadership Academy

Description: Use classical and historical literature to compare/discuss leadership principles within American/world history & governance. Compose papers, a scholar project, memorize a recitation of choice and speech to practice effective use of language for future roles of leadership.

Open to ages 12-18/Grades 7-12

Books & 'Opening Event' included with the course; optional May 16th Field Trip to the
Utah State Capitol Building.

This year's focus will be on classics that may be categorized as:
Allegories with corresponding Leadership Morals
(Who Moved My Cheese, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, The Pilgrim's Progress, The Little Prince, The Alchemist, The Richest Man in Babylon, etc.)
Accompanied by U.S. History Lessons from:
The Making of America & The 5,000 Year Leap

And Leadership Classic texts:
The Seven Habits of Effective Teems, Crucial Conversations

Scholars will also engage in occasional leadership simulations and frequent group games to explore and grasp various leadership principles while we study and discuss their use through history and
current events.

It is highly recommended that scholars come dressed in
~business-casual attire~
to encourage the proper atmosphere of respect for advanced learning and leadership decorum.


2 Course Options for 2024-2025:

 Times: Thursdays (September 2024- May 2025)
1st Option
Practice (Beginning) Scholar 11:00-1:00 p.m.
2nd Option
Apprentice (Advanced) Scholar 1:00-3:00 p.m.

(Please note: This option is mainly intended to allow full year students to make payment in two installments. With this option, if students withdraw with over 1/2 of the semester completed, the remaining semester payment will be forfeited.)-or-Payments may be made monthly at $86/month.You may also enroll for a single semester:(1st Semester: September-December 4th :12 sessions @ $20 ea. = $240 2nd Semester: January-May 8th: 19 sessions @ $20 ea. = $360 )
